Runners, take your mark. Clearwater Mall’s annual race returns on Saturday, 23 August 2025, and this year brings a bold new feature: the event’s first-ever 21km race. Building on years of community enthusiasm and athletic achievement, the event now offers participants three distances to choose from: the new 21km, the ever-popular 10km race and the family-friendly 5km fun run.
In proud partnership with Panorama Running Club, the race starts at 07h00 near Entrance 1 at Clearwater Mall and wraps up in the Lifestyle Parking area opposite the mall, drawing runners from across the region for a morning of movement, motivation and shared momentum.
“This event has become a fixture on the local race calendar,” says Prianka Singh Rodgers, Marketing Manager at Clearwater Mall. “Introducing the 21km is an exciting next step. We’ve seen such strong support over the years, and we’re proud to offer something more for our loyal running community while keeping it inclusive and welcoming for newcomers too.”
Entries are now open, with online registration closing at 23h59 on 17 August 2025. In-centre registration will be available at the Info Court (Entrance 2) on 21 and 22 August 2025, from 15h00 to 19h00, and on the day at Entrance 1 from 05h30. Entry fees are R100 for the 5km, R180 for the 10km and R240 for the 21km, with temporary licences available for those not affiliated to a running club.
The event welcomes participants aged 16 and up for the 21km, 14+ for the 10km, and children aged 5 and older for the 5km fun run. Start times are 07h00 for the 10km and 21km, and 07h30 for the 5km, with cut-off times at 09h00 and 10h00 respectively.
Bragging rights aren’t the only thing on offer. From podium finishes to mountain conquests, there’s plenty to aim for. Cash prizes will be awarded across distances and age groups, with special honours reserved for those who outpace the pack on the toughest climb to be crowned King or Queen of the Mountain. Break the 10km course records – 30m 49s for men or 36m 27s for women – and you’ll earn more than applause. Winners will be celebrated at the prize giving, kicking off at 08h30 in the finish area.
“We’ve built this event around the idea that everyone belongs, whether you’re a seasoned athlete chasing a new personal best or bringing the family along for a fun morning out,” adds Singh Rodgers. “Clearwater Mall is proud to create spaces that bring people together. This race is one of our favourite ways to do just that.”
