Breakout Afrobeats songstress Chayuta, affectionately dubbed the Afrobeats Princess, has released her heartfelt new single “Surrender” — a nostalgic, modern anthem that pays homage to the purity of old-school romance. Produced by long-time collaborator DJ Jabs, “Surrender” weaves youthful longing with soulful storytelling, inviting listeners into a world of emotional depth and melodic richness.

“Surrender was inspired by young love — the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ kind of story,” shares Chayuta. “It’s about that deep connection you hope to find one day and how powerful it feels in the moment.”

Born to a South African mother and Ghanaian father, Chayuta grew up between countries and cultures — a journey that continues to shape her artistry. She describes her sound as a blend of Afrobeats and R&B, with the freedom to explore and experiment vocally across genres.

“I don’t box myself in. My voice is my instrument, and I use it to tell stories, whether in Afrobeats, R&B, or something entirely new.”

Her breakout EP, “17”, released when she was just 18, was a turning point in her career. Since then, Chayuta has worked with Nigerian super-producer Phantom (best known for Burna Boy’s “Ye”) on three singles — Drop, Yawa, and GPS. She also collaborated with the late R&B legend D’Wayne Wiggins (Tony! Toni! Toné!) on a special acoustic project.

Chayuta cites Rihanna as her biggest influence, both musically and as a businesswoman. She also dreams of working with Tems, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Tyla, Usher, and DJ Maphorisa — a clear reflection of her global aspirations.
Following the release of “Surrender”, Chayuta is set to release her new EP titled “From the Ashes” on 5 September 2025. The project features exciting collaborations and an acoustic offering that showcases her vocal range in a raw, emotive way.
