Following a triumphant start to the year, the radiant vocal powerhouse Azana unveils her deeply personal new single, “Vumani” (featuring Rory), out now on all major streaming platforms.
“Vumani” serves as a poignant tribute to Azana’s father and ancestors, acting as a resonant spiritual and thematic follow-up to her acclaimed 2024 collaboration with Sam Deep, “BoGogo”. The track opens with a powerful Zulu invocation: “Ngihambile emsamo saphahla isangoma sathi ngihamba noGogo Vumani bo, ubaba uhambile emhlabeni ufika ngoku uleta izibusiso ngehla lam elihamba noGogo Vumani bo.” (Translation: “I journeyed to the sacred place, consulted the sangoma who said I journey with Gogo, my father journeyed on earth and now arrives bringing blessings with my clan’s name that travels with Gogo”) This sets the tone for a song steeped in reverence, gratitude, and a profound connection to lineage.
Azana continues to showcase her remarkable versatility with Vumani. Earlier this year, she captivated audiences with her stunning vocal range on the emotive Amacala Othando alongside Big Zulu. Now, she seamlessly blends her signature soulful delivery with rich cultural textures and Rori’s complementary vocals, creating a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted.
