On the last Saturday in January Diageo introduced the new Gordon’s flavours to the local market. Guests got a first-hand taste of the delectable cocktails from the flavours – Pink Berry and Sunset Orange – through mixology classes in the ideal sunset setting of the rooftop Hallmark House with 360 views of Johannesburg. The event brought together media, influencers and some members of the public to enjoy the brand’s new flavours.

The Gordon’s Pink Berry is made with the highest quality ingredients and has been perfectly crafted to balance the refreshing taste of Gordon’s Gin with the natural sweetness of raspberry and strawberry; while Gordon’s Sunset Orange on the other hand, is perfectly crafted to balance the refreshing taste of Gordon’s with fresh juicy orange notes.

South African actress, business woman Mapaseka Nyokong  reflected on the journey she’s had over the years and said, ” I grew up watching my sisters drink Gordons. Gin was also not the in thing as it is now. As we grew older in the big city, gin is the in thing now and I like what they did with introducing the new flavours. Everywhere you go at every table there is a gin. It’s a beautiful thing that they are doing. I like both new flavours they taste differently but I feel like pink berry is my favorite.”

Nyokong is known for her role as Dintle Nyathi in South African soap drama television series Scandal and appeared on the 2018 Forbes Africa “30 Under 30” list. The star is also an entrepreneur and has her clothing brand known as Uzuri secrets. She says being an entrepreneur, and a mother is not easy and  people always ask her how she finds her balance.

“I am trying to push, there is no balance at all, sometimes I do sit in my room and want to cry and say I don’t want to pitch up to any of them. but what helps me more than anything is that I have to show up for myself, work, and the people I love. In 2023 I need to show up.”

Encouraging other young women who are interested in entrepreneurship, Nyokong  says as a young women you need to start working on yourselves. “What is it that makes you happy? working for someone does not make you less ambitious, go for what makes you happy and what you like. I have auditioned so many times and I didn’t get a call back for all, but its about the timing. if its not your times it’s not, remember everything happens for a reason and your time will come.”

Motlatsi Mafatshe, a South African actor and musician who is  is best known for his roles in the popular films State of Violence, Sokhulu &Partners II and Zama Zama. Apart from acting, he is also a musician who has made more than 400 singles. Mafatshe is also known for his role in the Netflix series How to Ruin Christmas.

The star commented on the new Gordons flavours and said that they  blend so well especially the sunset orange, particularly the pink berry for me. “The new flavorus  just pop. Gordons is also that drink you have after a nice long night. I think they have nailed it.”
