South Africa, there is a new artist by the name of Kidd969, and he has entered the scenes with his official debut single Braindamaged. The trap love song is about his highs and lows as a young artist dealing with a painful relationship.
The track was accompanied by an artistic music video that depicts the emotions in the song perfectly. The music video was produced by critically acclaimed production company Clout Cassette. The company has an excellent track record of working with the hottest new wave artists such as A-Reece and The Big Hash to name a few.
When asked about Braindamaged Kidd969 said “The song is about heartbreak and how damaging a certain relationship was to me. I recorded the track earlier this year. What’s funny is that I had no intentions of really making the song, I was just in the studio listening to some beats and decided to record whatever came to mind. I hope people will be able to relate to the track even though its unique to my experience”
Hailing from Tzaneen, Limpopo, Kidd969 (Born Bongani Shikwambana) began producing music in early high school. It wasn’t until 2019 when he decided to step in front of the microphone as an artist after impressing his friends with his freestyle skills. He is currently signed to Johannesburg based independent record label Lost Records. Kidd969 has also been receiving mentorship from Richard Mahogany who is most noted in the music industry for giving creative direction to the likes of AKA, K.O and Yanga Chief during their music careers. Despite releasing a number of underground singles and building a following under his previous name Kidd Cartii, Braindamaged signals a new era for Kidd969.
Kidd969 has promised his ever growing fan base that there is still plenty of music to come with the possibility of a project which is subject to be released soon. The nation should brace itself as this young hip hop artist is looking to take the industry by storm.
