The Metro FM Awards in Mpumalanga have wrapped up another successful year, showcasing the best of local talent and music in the region. The event brought together some of the most talented and accomplished musicians in the industry, and Universal Music Group congratulate all the winners and nominees for their outstanding achievements.

This year’s awards saw a number of artists and industry professionals honoured for their contributions to the music industry in Mpumalanga. Nduduzo Makhathini and Mafikizolo were among the standout winners of the evening, taking home awards in their respective categories from Universal Music Group.

Nduduzo Makhathini, a jazz pianist and composer, was awarded Best Jazz Album for his critically acclaimed album In The Spirit of Ntu, meaning the spirit on Ubuntu. Mr Makhathini’s innovative and soulful music has gained him widespread recognition and praise from audiences and critics alike, and this award is a testament to his exceptional talent.

Mafikizolo, a popular South African music duo consisting of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza, were the first recipients of the Esther Mahlangu Life Time Achievement Award at the Metro FM Awards. The award celebrates the duo for their many years in the music industry, which has been a massive success and has cemented Mafikizolo’s position as one of South Africa’s most beloved music acts.

The Metro FM Awards continue to showcase the incredible talent that exists in the region and provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their skills.
